You've seen all this before I'm sure. It's the Salad menu at Chilis. Innocent customer's come in and decide on a salad because they want to make a responsible and healthy choice. The problem is that most of the menu items on this table are just as expensive (speaking in calories) as some of their juicier items. One of the funnier things about all of this is that my wife doesn't even like salad and I'm sure many of you don't like it either! In this case she really doesn't need to pick the salad (unless it's the house or caesar with light dressing) and she can just go with something lighter and tastier to her!
If you do go with the salad make sure you go with light dressing
2 tbsp of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing = 140 calories
2 tbsp of Hidden Valley Light Ranch Dressing = 80 Calories
Half as many and honestly with the Hidden Valley brand I can't tell the difference. Other brands I can for sure.... Yuck!
If you like to have croutons on your salad a basic store bought crouton is about 10 calories a piece. So if you add 10-12 that's another 100-120 calories. Try 5-6. You won't notice it that much I promise! Keep the same amount of salad on there.
Anyway, the point is if you're going to go with a salad at any restaurant know how many calories it is and then try to adjust down from there! Otherwise, you may even want to check out what some of the other items on the menu are calorie wise and pick one of those instead.
